HEATWAVE AND DROUGHT ACTION PLAN
For your information, the site is entirely smoke free. Smoking areas have been specially designed in front of the Porterie : we ask our visitors to not smoke nor vape outside of these areas, in order to prevent any risk of wildfire.
The recent heatwaves also affect the smooth running of our different animations. For ensuring our visitors’ comfort, a heatwave plan has been implemented. When temperatures become too high, flash visits and the guided tours are replaced by a mediation time in the heart of our mediation area in the Porterie, in a more cool and cozy environment.
The peculiar case of the Chapel’s shell (roof) guided tour
The shell’s interior is usually very hot, including outside of periods of high heat. In order to ensure the security and comfort of all, some guided tours can be cancelled in the case of a heatwave. In that case, we would provide a presentation in the Porterie. We request that you contact the reception the day before your visit for additional information.
Summer workshops specific case
Every Saturday and Sunday during summer, the mediation team is providing our visitors with various workshops organized inside the pilgrim’s house or outside on the site, after a flash tour of 30 minutes.
During periods of high heat, these animations can be adapted in order to secure the security and comfort of the participants. Particularly the Pilgrim’s House which can be very hot, even outside of periods of high heat.
Depending on the weather, various arrangements can be made :
- Some workshops could be cancelled, whether they are planned outside or inside the Pilgrim’s House.
- Some workshops like the window’s workshop or the board games’ one could be maintained or rescheduled in the mediation room. They would be happening after the inside flash tour.
- Workshops needing to be outside like the biodiversity or in situ workshops, would not be happening in the case of periods of high heat and would be cancelled. The mediator would as a replacement animate an inside flash tour.
Participants would be informed of possible modifications or cancellations as soon as possible. These changes would serve to preserve the quality of experience while ensuring the well-being of everyone.
